Hi, I'm Tom. I've been playing games for more than 45 years, from local arcades in the late 1970s through to modern PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch gaming. De Tom Plays is where I share gameplay videos, reviews, verdicts, hidden gems, demos and playtests, with a particular focus on cosy games, incremental and idle games, tower defence and indie discoveries.
I'm a lifelong gamer with more than four decades of experience across arcade machines, home computers, consoles and PC gaming. I enjoy discovering games that respect the player's time, reward progression and provide a genuinely enjoyable experience.
De Tom Plays is my gaming website and YouTube channel, where I share gameplay videos, reviews, first impressions and discoveries. The aim is simple: to help players find enjoyable games and decide which titles may be worth their time and attention.
The genres I love most are cosy games, incremental and idle games, tower defence, builders and indie titles. I particularly enjoy uncovering hidden gems, demos and playtests that larger channels may overlook and giving them the spotlight they deserve.
My gaming journey started in the late 1970s, when arcade machines felt like magic and every new game seemed to do something I had never seen before. More than 45 years later, I still get that same feeling when I find a clever indie game, a satisfying upgrade system, a relaxing cosy world or a tower defence challenge that makes me say, “just one more try.”

De Tom Plays began because I wanted a place to share the games I enjoy and help others discover titles they might otherwise miss. While much of gaming coverage naturally concentrates on the biggest releases, I particularly enjoy shining a light on hidden gems, demos, playtests and indie games that deserve more attention. The website and YouTube channel work together to provide genuine gameplay, honest reviews and personal impressions from the perspective of someone who has spent a lifetime playing games.
