Tom's Verdict
💜 Tom Recommends
Click Mage is exactly the sort of incremental game that can quietly steal an evening from me. It starts simply enough, but there was nearly always another resource I needed, another blueprint to buy or another piece of the production chain to work towards. Before I knew it, I'd gone from intending to have a look at the game to wanting to see absolutely everything it had to offer.
🪄 I particularly enjoyed that the grind felt purposeful. Click Mage isn't afraid to make you work for your progress, and the final stretch becomes especially grindy, but I rarely felt as though I was grinding simply to pad out the game. I knew what I was trying to achieve and could see myself gradually getting closer to it, which made finally reaching those goals genuinely satisfying.
⚙️ This certainly won't suit everyone. If you want rapid progression and constant rewards, its deliberately slow pace may become frustrating. For me, though, gathering resources, improving my little production setup and steadily working through increasingly demanding objectives was precisely what kept me playing. I eventually spent around six hours completing the entire game and earning every achievement, which probably says more about how much I enjoyed the loop than anything else I could write here.
🏝️ My one real disappointment came right at the end. After investing all that time and finally completing the journey, I wanted a little more acknowledgement of what I'd achieved. The ending felt rather anticlimactic compared with the satisfying build-up that preceded it. Thankfully, that final moment didn't spoil the many hours I'd enjoyed getting there.
💜 Click Mage took a simple incremental concept, gave me a clear reason to keep progressing and managed to keep me engaged all the way to 100% completion. It is slow, it is grindy, and that's precisely why the right kind of incremental player may find it very difficult to put down.
For me, Click Mage earns a 💜 Tom Recommends.

Why I Liked This Game
- ✅ 🪄 Satisfying Incremental Progression - There was nearly always something meaningful to work towards, whether gathering resources, buying another blueprint or producing the next item needed to continue the journey.
- ✅ ⚙️ A Grind That Feels Worthwhile - Click Mage can be deliberately grindy, particularly towards the end, but I usually knew exactly what I was working towards and could see myself steadily getting closer.
- ✅ 🏗️ Production That Gradually Expands - Starting with simple resource gathering and slowly developing storage, crafting and production gives the game a satisfying sense of growth.
- ✅ 🎯 Clear Goals Keep You Moving - Rather than simply increasing numbers forever, the story and objectives provide a purpose for your progression and eventually give you a proper finishing point to aim for.
- ✅ 🏆 Encouraged Me To Complete Everything - I enjoyed the progression loop enough to keep playing until I'd completed the entire game and earned every achievement, which took me around six hours.
What I Didn't Like In This Game
- ❌ 🐌 The Pace Won't Suit Everyone - Progress can be very slow and the amount of gathering required increases considerably later in the game. I enjoyed that style of progression, but players looking for something faster may struggle with it.
- ❌ 🎬 The Ending Needed More - After spending around six hours building, crafting and working towards the final objective, the conclusion felt surprisingly anticlimactic. I would have loved a little more celebration or acknowledgement of everything I'd achieved.
