Game Review

Fracture Field

Fracture Field is an idle/incremental quarry mining game. Shatter rocks with timed swings then invest your earnings into upgrades.

About The Game

⛏️ Fracture Field starts with something simple: a single rock and a well-timed swing. From those humble beginnings, you'll gradually build a sprawling quarry operation, breaking through layers of stone, clay, and sandstone in search of increasingly valuable resources. Every hit feels rewarding as you carve deeper into the earth and uncover hidden riches.

🤖 As your mining empire grows, manual labour gives way to automation. Invest your earnings into upgrades, deploy specialised drones, and create an efficient production network that keeps resources flowing even when you're not actively swinging your pick. Careful planning becomes just as important as raw mining power as you optimise every part of your operation.

💥 Success isn't just about digging deeper — it's about thinking smarter. Use powerful demolition tools and strategic bomb placements to clear space, tackle tougher rock layers, and maximise your quarry's output. With prestige systems, permanent upgrades, and ever-expanding opportunities for growth, Fracture Field delivers that satisfying incremental progression loop that keeps you coming back for "just one more upgrade."

Tom's Verdict

If you like idle incremental games, then you will like Fracture Field. I love both idle and incremental games and when combined, it makes them perfect for me. Even more so when you don't have to keep clicking, with the automated feature, you can simply hover over the rocks and it automatically clicks them.

Fracture Field offers you two ways to reset your progression in exchange for currency used to buy permanent upgrades and temporary upgrades. You have the world fracture, which resets with each reality shatter, so these are just for each run you do. Then you have the reality shatter, which is essentially prestige. For this, you gradually earn reality shards over time, and these are spent on permanent upgrades, which really help you progress through the game quicker.

So where does the idle bit come in, I hear you asking? Drones. Lots of little automated drones that you can sit back and watch as they busily go about their work of destroying the rocks for you. These little bots roaming around the screen are what really make the game great for me and they even have their own dedicated upgrades screen, so you can improve each of these little drones to make them faster and more powerful.

Why I Liked This Game

  • Progression in this game feels solid, maybe a little slow at times with the prestige system, but it`s not rushed and not over in the blink of an eye.
  • Each prestige means your next run feels like you are making progress, rocks break quicker and you move on quicker.
  • The upgrading of the tool used, pushes you on, wanting to get the next one unlocked.
  • The drones. They are the difference between this being just another incremental game and it feeling special to me.

What I Didn't Like In This Game

  • Maybe I was just being impatient, but I found the prestige system slowed things down a little too much and at times it felt like it was dragging things out, just to make the game last longer.
