Tom's Verdict
I really enjoyed my time with Artisan TD. Within minutes it reminded me why I fell in love with maze-building Tower Defence games all those years ago, and after recording just over 42 minutes of gameplay I could quite happily have carried on playing through the rest of the campaign.
The opening levels naturally feel a little more structured as they introduce the mechanics, but I actually think that's a sensible approach. They teach the fundamentals well and leave me expecting much greater freedom as the later levels open up and allow for more creative maze designs.
My only real criticism is the value at full price. While I genuinely recommend the game, I do think the current asking price is a little ambitious when compared to genre favourites like Defence Grid 2 and GemCraft, both of which offer significantly more content and replayability. Pick it up in a sale though, and I think it's excellent value for money.
