Tom's Verdict
Minecraft isn't just one of my favourite games—it's my game. It's the one I return to when I can't decide what to play, when I want to relax after a long day or simply spend a few peaceful hours building, exploring and enjoying a world that feels like my own. I've played it for thousands of hours across multiple platforms, and despite all that time, it still manages to surprise me and give me reasons to come back with every major update.
What makes Minecraft so special is that it never tells you the "right" way to play. Some players will chase bosses, automate entire factories or create breathtaking mega-builds. Others will spend an evening fishing, farming or slowly improving a small village. Every one of those approaches is equally valid, and that's part of the magic. Minecraft grows with you, adapting to whatever kind of experience you're looking for at that moment.
For younger players, it's an incredible playground for imagination and adventure. For many adults, it's something different altogether—a place to slow down, escape the noise of everyday life and lose yourself in a world where the only pace that matters is your own. Few games have remained so relevant for so long, and even fewer have become somewhere people genuinely look forward to returning to.
I've recommended plenty of games on De Tom Plays, but only one has earned a Triple Tom Recommends. After well over a decade of adventures, countless worlds and thousands of happy hours, Minecraft has become more than just a game to me. It's a place that always feels like coming home. 💜💜💜

- ✅🌍 Complete freedom to play your way – Whether you enjoy building, exploring, farming, adventuring or simply relaxing, Minecraft lets you create your own goals instead of forcing you down a set path.
- ✅🏡 A wonderfully relaxing experience – Few games are as easy to lose yourself in. Building a home, expanding a village or exploring a new landscape makes it the perfect escape after a busy day.
- ✅🔄 Endless replayability – Every new world is unique, and regular updates ensure there's always something new to discover, even after thousands of hours.
- ✅🎨 Creativity without limits – From humble cottages to sprawling castles and ingenious Redstone contraptions, Minecraft gives players the tools to bring almost any idea to life.
- ✅🤝 Great for solo or multiplayer – Whether you're enjoying a peaceful survival world alone or sharing adventures with friends, Minecraft offers memorable experiences however you choose to play.
- ✅🧱 Timeless appeal for all ages – It's easy to see why children love Minecraft, but its slower pace, freedom and satisfying progression make it just as rewarding for adults looking to unwind.
What I Didn't Like In This Game
- ❌🪑 Decorative furniture lacks functionality – This is a personal preference rather than a flaw with the game itself, but I've always wished more decorative items could actually be used. As someone who enjoys building practical homes, I'd love to be able to place a proper sofa, table and chairs that function as more than just decoration. It would make creating lived-in homes even more satisfying.
