About The Game

🏘️ 5 Blocks of Happiness takes a refreshingly personal approach to the city-building genre. Instead of creating a sprawling metropolis, you're helping Julian build a welcoming neighbourhood around his home after his partner, Clementine, is placed on bed rest during her pregnancy. It's a lovely premise that gives every new building and resident a genuine sense of purpose.

🛍️ As your little community grows, you'll need to keep your neighbours happy by stocking local shops with the items they're craving each day. Managing your budget, upgrading businesses and maintaining the town's overall Happiness becomes the key to attracting new residents, while poor planning can see people packing up and leaving. It creates a satisfying balance between relaxed town building and thoughtful resource management without ever feeling overwhelming.

🌅 Wrapped in a colourful diorama art style, 5 Blocks of Happiness is the kind of cosy game that's easy to settle into. Watching your peaceful neighbourhood come to life, complete with bustling daytime activity and softly lit evenings, makes building your little corner of the world feel rewarding from start to finish.

Tom's Verdict

I really enjoyed my time with 5 Blocks of Happiness. It delivers exactly the kind of relaxed experience I look for in a cosy management game, letting you build and grow your little neighbourhood without ever making you feel under pressure. The gentle story gives your actions a sense of purpose, while the charming visuals make it a pleasure to spend time in.

The demo also felt just about the right length. By the time it finished, I'd seen enough to understand the core gameplay while still being left wanting more. Everything felt polished too, with no bugs or technical issues during my playthrough, allowing me to simply sit back and enjoy the experience.

If the full game builds on what I've seen here, I think it's going to be a lovely addition to the cosy city-building genre. It's certainly one I'll be keeping an eye on, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the finished version expands on the solid foundations laid by this demo.
