About The Game

🎣 My Pocket Paradise is a cosy desktop companion designed to sit quietly alongside whatever else you are doing. You can spend your time fishing, growing crops, mining for resources and collecting different items, gradually making progress in your own little pocket-sized world without the game constantly demanding your attention.

🌱 There are plenty of familiar cosy activities to enjoy, with NPCs to interact and trade with as you gather resources and build up your collection. The gentle pace makes it easy to dip in for a few minutes when you want something to do, or simply leave your little character happily fishing while you get on with something else.

πŸ–₯️ As a desktop companion, the game works particularly well when given its own little space on your screen. It can be resized to suit your setup, allowing you to keep an eye on your character throughout the day without the game taking over your entire desktop or interrupting everything else you are doing.

🏝️ My Pocket Paradise is deliberately simple and relaxed, offering a small virtual world that can quietly become part of your daily desktop routine. Whether you are actively fishing, farming and collecting or simply enjoying having your character keeping you company, it is a charming little escape that is very easy to leave running in the background.

Tom's Verdict

🎣 My Pocket Paradise is a game that completely changed my opinion of it in the space of just a few hours. My first experience before release was unfortunately a frustrating one. I struggled with the initial window size, couldn't immediately access the settings I needed, and after enlarging the game, I encountered a problem where the window kept moving until parts of the interface eventually disappeared off-screen. By the time I stopped playing, I could no longer properly interact with the game.

πŸ› οΈ Rather than publishing that original experience immediately before release, I sent my video and feedback privately to the developer. I explained exactly what had happened and the problems that were preventing me from enjoying the game properly.

Within a matter of hours, every single issue I had raised had been addressed.

✨ When I returned to record the game again, the difference was enormous. I could resize and position the game comfortably, the initial restrictions were no longer getting in the way, and the frustrating screen-jumping problem had completely disappeared. Instead of fighting with the interface, I could finally concentrate on the game itselfβ€”and that completely changed the experience.

🌱 Underneath those original problems was a genuinely lovely little desktop companion. Fishing, farming, mining, collecting and trading all give you things to do when you want to actively interact with the game, but it doesn't constantly demand your attention. You can spend a few minutes making progress and then simply leave your character happily getting on with things while you do something else.

πŸ–₯️ For me, the game really found its home on my XENEON display beside my main monitors. After finishing my recording, I left my little character standing at the end of the pier fishing while I carried on with other things. Some time later, I realised the game was still running.

I could have closed it.

I simply didn't want to.

🎣 That is probably the biggest compliment I can give a desktop companion game. It stopped feeling like something I had opened purely to record and review, and instead became something I genuinely enjoyed having as part of my desktop. I can easily imagine leaving it running while writing reviews, working on De Tom Plays or simply going about my day.

πŸ’œ My Pocket Paradise isn't trying to reinvent cosy gaming, but it doesn't need to. Its activities are familiar and its gameplay is deliberately gentle, which suits the experience perfectly. My initial session could have resulted in a very different verdict, but after the developer listened, acted on the feedback and fixed the problems I encountered, I went from wondering whether I could recommend the game at all to happily leaving it running long after I had finished recording.

For anyone looking for a charming, relaxing little desktop companion to keep them company throughout the day, My Pocket Paradise gets a full πŸ’œ Tom Recommends from me.

Now I just need to earn enough in-game currency to give my little character grey hair so that he looks a little more like me. 😁
